I have been drinking coffee for as long as I can remember. It is my life long love. I can’t imagine a world without it. Over the last 10 years my love of this flavorful bean has grown to the more exotic espresso drinks. My new favorite is a couple of shots in some water, the call it an Americano.

Along with age bringing perfection, in my case it has brought forth the ability to know the taste of good espresso. I had been told there was a taste difference that was noticeable by bean selection. Those who let me in on that were not lying; I have had many a bad espresso bean. It funks up the taste and in some cases has ruined my whole day.

Another noticeable difference is the machine that prepares the shot for your drink. I was also told this makes a difference. To those people I always said, “Hog Wash”. But again I have been proven wrong. (this is part of that 9% I am talking about)

Now, I am sure you are wondering why I am rambling on about espresso, or maybe not.

The Star Bucks I frequent almost daily has recently upgraded their espresso machine to the automatic from the manually. They are one of the last in the city to do so and let me just tell you of my disappointment. The shots are out faster and more precise, but the taste and the lack of the waiting has left me sad.

So this little blog is to all you lucky bastards who still get espresso the old fashion way. And for those of you like me who have to jump into the future, at least there are still cute girls that work at Star Bucks.
