Last Thursday was Ground Hog Day. This year the hog saw his shadow, 6 more weeks of winter. I caught the last 20 mins of the movie Ground Hogs Day with Bill Murray the other night. It is easily one of the many all time favorites of mine. I quote the hell out of this movie. I have seen it more times than I care to admit. The above video is 19 minutes of the best lines from the movie. Although I think a couple are missing.
Yesterday was the great “black out” of many of your favorite internet sites. Sites like Reddit and Wikipedia both blacked out their site for most of the day. When I first heard the idea for an internet black out I was sure it would fail. Not enough people (every day internet users) would be effected by a handful of sites not working. I really thought the only way to make a big impact would be if sites like google and amazon didnt loading and just threw a 404 error for a day. This would wake people up as to how much they rely and count on the internets. In the end what I didn’t foresee was the mass media coverage. It was everywhere yesterday, with many of the news/blogs following up today. Glad to see this issue getting some main stream media play. Hopefully this will bury this shit for good. Though I am sure in some dark room somewhere in a bunker the powers that be are working on the next rediculous idea to stop the internet from being the internet. Best of luck assholes.
Looks like Abrams has cast the villain for the follow up Star Trek movie reboot. Benedict Cumberbach, what a great name. I first saw this guy in the BBC Sherlock update. Great show and a fantastic actor. If you can find and have the time, it is only 3 or 4 episodes, I highly recommend checking it out.
Also of note. The Star Trek movie has moved its release date to May 17, 2013. Yes that is next year. Boo!
Ever time I turn around Morgan Spurlock is taking some idea I had 10 years ago and making a movie and or TV show about it. Let me tell you right now it kinda pisses me off. It also makes me think that maybe I need to meet and spend time with this fella. Maybe we could make gold together?
However I am thinking it would likely go something like:
Jim: I have this great idea for a movie for about Space Hotdogs, the people that make them and the storied lives they live.
