Are you a New Media Douchebag?

Nov 24

This Thanksgiving I decided to take a little video throughout the day to give the rest of my family and friends who would not be attending a feel for our holiday.

Instead of shooting straight video, editing it and uploading to the internet. I used a new service which allows you to post your videos directly to the internet in real time. Over the past three weeks I have had the pleasure of using this new micro video service called Seesmic to document my life. I thought this would be the perfect medium to capture this Holiday and share it. Below are the the videos in order.

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Holiday!

A couple of nights ago Zadi from the jetsetshow.com threw a link onto the twitter and asked us all to check it out.  The link, which I have provided below, is to a website that asked you to tell the direction of an animated spinning lady.  Based on which way you see her spinning, you can determin whether you are a left or right brain thinker.

I saw her spinning clockwise and this was a bit of surprise to me as I had always considered myself a left brain kind of guy.  What really blew my mind is when Chuck came into the room and he saw it spinning the other way?!?

Defiantly not the most scientific and by far not the end all test for this sort of thing.  But it is fun to see how everyone else sees the naked lady spinning.   Which way is she is spinning for you?

Wii owners rejoice, 2K Sports is set to release a tennis game next spring that promises to be the “most real life experience” to date on the system.

While this excites this Wii owner. It also makes me worry a bit. Does that mean I am going to be out of breath and completely worthless the whole game? Real life and tennis are two things I am rarely any good at doing. I think the goal should be fun. But hey, what do I know. I am not a “Video Game” developer.

2K servers up real!

I love the Simpsons!

Many months ago Charlie came in and informed me that the new Pride and Prejudice was just fantastic. I said, you are so gay, which he replied, “yes, very happy! Thank you”

I respect his judgment on movies, he has been off the mark only a few times in the last 20 years. E.T. being the most notable. So, based on his recommendation I put Pride and Prejudice in the online que, and forgot all about it.

Last night while I was rendering and uploading The Clip Show, I watched this “fantastic” movie. I laughed, I cried, I took a couple of bathroom breaks and I was delightfully surprised. The acting, cinematography and direction were top notch. There a couple of shots in the movie were I actually paused it, rewound the DVD and tried to figure out how in the hell they did it!??! It is a truly beautiful film. Easily my favorite shot is towards the end when Elizabeth and Darcy meet on the field and come together with the sun behind them. (check the youtube clip above)

I guess the gay is on the other foot now. Check out this film, it will not disapoint. Thanks again Chuck!

Last month while on vacation in the mountains of Colorado a friends Father taught the two of us a new game. That game is Chinese Poker, which is yet another poker game among many. The difference with this form is that you do not take additional cards after the deal. You play with what you have, which I find very comforting. Without getting into a long explanation on the rules, see this link for that, it is a hell of a good time to play.

Since my initial time playing the game, I have only had the chance to play a hand full of times. This is quite dis-hearting to me. I had a chance last weekend to play with the master, would have meant spending some time with the family, I passed. I could go to CA this weekend and try my hand with the other pro, but I am trying to save dollars. Do you see my dilemma?

I am sending this “shout out”. I need a card partner. Someone who has time to play a couple of hands a week of this horribly addictive game. We can play for money or for fun it is up to you. So, what are you doing this weekend?

Like many of you I spent last week celebrating our nations birth. Which to most Americans equals grilling, drinking, throwing an object around in the yard and catching a summer movie. It seems, I am more atypical American than I had originally thought, because I did all of these things.

I love the summer, the warm nights and the hot women, minus the hotness of the women. The best part of the summer is the movies. The Studios release their big budget, violence laced, sex driven BLOCKBUSTERS. We start to seem them sneak into the theater in May and by the 4th of July we are knee deep in explosions.

This summer is no exception and by far the biggest film of the year is Transformers. You know, that Michael Bay movie about the robots that kickass. I talked to someone over the weekend who was not quite sure what these “Transformers” were all about. I asked the person, who is in her 30’s, had she been asleep in the 80’s. She said no, I think she is lying?

Now I am not going to give you the background on this movie, just know if you are looking for a fun summer movie, this is it! I have seen a lot of movies, yes more than ten, and when I saw Transformers last week I was excited. There has been a lot of hype surrounding this robot flick.  I knew it was going to be a big earner, but even I was surprised when at the end of the movie the whole audience applauded? When was the last time that happened? Minus a film festival. This thing is going to break records and make more money than Heiser’s other favorite 4th of July release, Independence Day.
