This is a sad, sad day for torrent fans all over the globe. The Pirate Bay torrent site will shut down for good this week. Last month we had a taste of what this would be like when they were down for a couple of weeks. It was tough as the rest of the torrent tracker sites pale in comparison. TPB’s ease of use and the wonderfully comedic comment section has always made TPB my favorite. Just like when Napster went away the adjustment will be painful but something new will arise to take its place. Maybe it will be even better. (crossing fingers)

I have installed the cool Qik live streaming App on my iPhone. What does this mean for you? Well you will get to watch me live from time to time. Those of you who are looking for that perfect “always on” twitter/friendfeed application to follow all your very important friends on both services, good news. There is a bit of a battle going on for this space and there are a couple of different competitors. The two top dogs are Alert Thingy (my choice) and Twhirl which was recently bought by the kids at seesmic. Now if you have no idea what friendfeed and twitter are all about either go find out (links provided).
Ok so if you are like me and you have been looking for a small application to follow both streams, go now and download Alert Thingy. It runs on the adobe air platform and works on both MAC and PC. It is awesome and the newest version not only lets you follow both services but it gives you the ability to upload to Flickr as well. KICK ASS!! Let me know what you think.
