Both the Japanese and the Germans had such advanced tech.  Here is yet another example of Japanese sub tech.  They wanted to use these big subs to launch bombing raids into the western US.  Also had plans to release rats with the plague and other such deadly viruses. The US sunk the few that were captured so the Russians wouldn’t get a hold of them.

Hard to imagine a world at war.  Let’s hope it never happens again.  It will be far worse than some rats and bombs I fear.

This is a sad, sad day for torrent fans all over the globe.  The Pirate Bay torrent site will shut down for good this week.  Last month we had a taste of what this would be like when they were down for a couple of weeks.  It was tough as the rest of the torrent tracker sites pale in comparison.  TPB’s ease of use and the wonderfully comedic comment section has always made TPB my favorite.  Just like when Napster went away the adjustment will be painful but something new will arise to take its place.  Maybe it will be even better. (crossing fingers)

Over the many years I have been visiting Catholic churches I have wondered why anyone would put their hand in the germ basin which is the holly water hole.  So glad to see the Italians are leaping forward into this century with personal holy water dispensers.  See the Swine Flu is good for something.  American Catholic churches  how much longer before you are on board the germ free train?

Technology Review: Contact Lenses that Respond to Light.

Yesterday I posted my first picture to Flickr in nearly three weeks. This is the first step back for me to my social media world. Over the last couple of weeks Flickr is the one service that I have really missedl. I love the ability to post a picture directly to the web so that everyone can see my them instantly.  Over the last year I have found this ability to document my life with pictures really fulfilling.

So how was nearly three weeks away from social networking and how has it effected me? These are two questions I have been asking myself over the last couple of days. To tell you the truth, I am not sure if I have answer to either yet. I do know that after the first couple of days the need to be a apart of twitter, seesmic and the rest faded. I still plan a post later on this week to talk about how it effected my everyday and what has changed since the start. For now though, I want to give everyone a heads up that I will be returning X-mas eve day with a bunch of video, mostly seemic. I am going to turn the Twitter back on that day also.

I believe that Vista runs faster on a Mac. The question is why in the world anyone would want to do such a thing to their Mac. Vista is the devil reincarnate in computer form.

Again with the robots! How much longer do we Americans have to wait before we can get one of these shinny new bots. Just think no more green card worries. I wonder if they have a low carbon foot print? I mean they are made by Toyota.

The end is near

So I am suppose to be working at this moment but I wanted to give you the heads up on a new service coming out of Alpha soon. It is called Seesmic and some are saying it is going to change the micro blogging space forever. Where twitter is just a quick 140 character txt blog. Seesmic uses the same basic format but with video. I started using it yesterday and it is the coolest thing ever! I am hooked. Right now I am stopping myself from taking a Seesmic video of me typing. Check out my first post from yesterday.

Last week my friend Chris Brogan sent me an invite to SumbleUpon. Truthfully it was just more Bacn. Yet another service I was being invited too. Just like everyone I get 10,00 these invites from my friends every single day. It truly is the new spam.

I thought, what most of us think, well if a friend is sending this to me, it must be worth my time.  Which is exactly how they get you!  It is better than spam, because it makes you want to open it.  Anyway, this was a little different.  I had recently read about Stumble, but never really gave it much thought beyond, “just another web 2.0 site.

So, I clicked on the link and setup an account, which took no time at all. I then launched my browser, Firefox, and installed the small tool bar. I hate tool bars, but I was trying to keep an open mind.

So what is Stumble Upon you ask?  It is exactly what the name means. It allows you to stumble upon internet sites that there is no way you would have ever found on your own.  You simply open your browser and click the Stumble button and you are on your way.  Interesting concept, right?

The Stumbling is is not complete random, all though it can be set that way, when you setup an account it allows you to chose what interests you have and this helps to narrow the stumble.  I have been using it for the last week and have come across so many great sites! Everything you can think of from movies, to pictures, news, history, games and well a ton of other useless shit.  It is my new favorite thing to do when I need to pass time. It is like digging for gold or naked girls. It is just that good.  Check it out and let me know what you think.

Last week Wired had a great piece on an Orb you have on your desk that tells you about your energy use, the size of your email box and whether or not you should use the bathroom. Alright I add that last one, but that would be useful, I think.

The way this Orb thingy works is, it glows brighter, flashes or shows a diffenent color when you are using more, less or peak electricity. It has been used for the stock market also, showing when and where the market is moving through color.

What a great idea, I think this is another in a long line of ideas that blows my mind. So simple, yet seemingly effective. I need something like this in my life. Although, I think I would like my glowing Orb to talk to me. Saying things like, “Hello, Jim how are you today, you are using to much energy. I am going to have to shut you down” (ORB opens pod bay doors)

The Germans have yet another first, the automated restaurant.  Thats right no waiter to yell at, make fun of or tip.  The whole restaurant has been fitted with a rail system to delivery the food. You order by touch screen at your table.  Quick and easy and one more place on the planet where you can avoid human contact.   What is to become of us?  I am telling you, robots!!

A couple of days ago while sitting in a meeting with a client we got to talking about robots.  Who started the conversation is not important, some how I got to talking about the end of days,  it is amazing I have any clients or friends for that matter.

I have been known to talk crazy about how robots will take over the world just like in the movies.  I always come off sounding like one of those right wing Christians but instead of Jesus and the G O D, I think robots will bring our salvation and eventual end.  Science vs. Religion the age old battle, guess it is evident which side I am on.

I dont think there is any real proof yet of an impending robot take over.  But I continue to read and see things that bring this reality closer to you and me.  How long will it be before we all have our own personal robo house friend?  How long before that friend decides he could do better without you?

So you want to take one of those silly daily pictures and upload it to Flickr like the rest of us?  But alas you are not one of the chosen who have themselves a Mac with its cool i-sight and Photoboth software.  Good news!  There is a new website that gives us Windows people the abilities our Mac friends take for granted.  It is called Seenly and it is just as simple to use as Photoboth with as many cool features.  You can morf your face, add color and play with the slew of other picture altering features.

Easily one of the coolest ideas out there in the world and of course it comes from the friendly Dutch.  Being able to rent a bike for $3 or $4 dollars a day right off the airplane or train is just brilliant.   That fact that it is a big vending machine with no attendant is tits!  How long before we see this kind of thing in the good old US of A?

What else could be dispensed from a huge vending machine?  I guess what else could be turned over to an automat type format?  Ideas?
