An open mic caught Tony and George talking about the mid-east crisis. Bush not realizing the mic was on, or maybe not giving a shit, said this shit gots to stop!

My favorite part is not that he says shit; it is that he is chewing something really big in this clip. Once again our President comes off as such a huge hick!

Once again we are seeing things unfold in the Mid-East leaving me dumbfounded. After all these years, at long last I thought we were beginning to see some real progress with the Palestine/Israel situation. Moreover, I thought for sure I would be able to return to Beirut for a vacation next year. All is lost now.

If you have not been following the current news in the region you are either one, Rip Van Winkle, and are still asleep, or you are an American. It has become a total fucking disaster. I am trying to stay positive, thinking we can move back from the brink. But, the reports coming out the region, along with the lack of return of soldiers, says all out war maybe upon us.

How do we stop this? We don’t. I am constantly hopeful that the situation in the Mid-East is going to change. I argue quite often to the contrary, but in my heart I want the blood letting to end. The facts of the matter or easy to read. Over the last 5000 years, give or take a couple, these two groups of people have been slaughtering each other of the same piece of worthless land. I mean, I could understand if this was some prime real estate, Ireland, the Falklands, Cuba, Hawaii, China, insert your idea here, but shit it is SAND! Religion mucks it up again. If you take the religious aspect of the conflict out, which I understand you cannot do, what is left. Ignore the oil for a minute. Can some one say Africa?

Let us hope in the coming weeks, especially the next two, this little “misunderstanding” doesn’t blow up, into a full out, war!

It’s only just begun.

With little to no violence and high voter turnout throughout the region, it looks like the Palestinians have pulled off a successful election process. I was just read the piece from the BBC online, and it was so upbeat I couldn’t believe what I was reading.

The results of the election are still two or so weeks out. I am sure in the next week we will begin to have a sense of where things lye. Given the choice between the two, Fatah or Hamas, I am not sure if I would have voted. The reality of Hamas having any real say in the government is too scary. There is nothing like having a terrorist organization part of your coalition government. You have got to love democracy mid-east style.

Looks as though a fella who was trying to bring a little fun through the Singapore Airport in 2002 got himself in some trouble. Singapore has hung 420 people since 1991 for drug related charges.

I was just having this conversation with my father a couple of days ago. He told me if you have drugs in this country, you die. I thought it was a little harsh and kind of shrugged it off. Look s as thought this poor fella will not be so lucky.

Heroin does kill.

As the third deadline for an Iraqi constitution passes us by, it makes me think. I wonder whether or not these newly freed citizens will be able to pull this off. Citizens, wait I mean, I wonder whether the politicians and power brokers can pull it off. Let’s face it the regular everyday “Joe” in Iraq is more worried about food water and his or her life. Whatever happens to the government is of little concern, just as long as the killing stops! If any kind of constitution comes out of this it will be victory for someone, right?

Given that, it makes me think of all the shit that has gone down, 1800 American military lost. Countless lives destroyed and the world is watching. My hope is that some good can come at of all of this loss. I sit here reading through the various articles about the process, and it doesn’t look great. It looks like a bunch of dudes hanging around a big table trying to figure out just how much they can steel. Which, if you look back at some other little get together, there was some thievery going on there too, and it turned out ok?

Predictions, women are screwed, religious freedom out, Sunni’s are toast and in the end if we are lucky the Iranians will rule the day. Now, I know, that is a really pessimistic way of looking at the situation. Given enough reading on the matter, you will see what I am talking about. So, let’s say it does work out. The Iraqi congress will send it up for a referendum vote and a new day will dawn! Easy!

If everyone is happy and Iraq becomes some kind of free, western loving, country, does that mean we can go home? Is it at that point we will be able to fly a banner reading “Mission Accomplished” What is the chance if everything goes well, which I think it really does have some very small chance, will we be out by the end of the decade? Anyone?

Been reading about the Pope this week. He has been in the fatherland, you know drinking and chilling out with his “war” buddies. There has been a lot of talk about the Nazi’s; you know those crazy assholes who fucked with everyone and some Jews. Anyway, there is lot of talk about trying to make it right, play it down and up to show the people the Pope ain’t no Jew haten Nazi.

Wait, he is the Pope, gods man on earth. Why would god let a Nazi be Pope?

PS
Am I the only one who thinks this Pope is a little scary?

Israel will pull out of Gaza starting Monday and out of the West Bank as well by September 4th. The Palestinians celebrate this Israeli pull back and abandonment of settlements claiming victory. All the while both the PLO and Hamas and whoever else can fire a gun or throw a rock, is vying for the power in these areas. It is still unclear to the media what will become of these new Palestinian controlled areas. Thankfully for you I think I might have some insight. Or maybe just some Jim bullshit?

I am going to let you in on a little secret. Come closer to the screen so you can hear me. This pullout is crap and it will not last! If you think Israel is going to let this disorganized bunch of idiots hang around and blow shit up, you are eating retard sandwiches again. I think this is nothing more than Israel showing the world how much they want to have peace, and how the Palestinians just want their country back. It is perfect, yes? Think about it? Hand over part of your country to a bunch of feuding Palestinian factions. Let them rip each other to hell. Then the Israelis can come back in, to “secure their country”, and take more land!

I am optimistic that Hamas will be able to restore peace, or some semblance of peace. Lets face it the PLO can’t tie their own shoes with out paying someone off to help them and then killing three or four of their own kind, after words by accident.

Like everyone else on this planet, except for those brown people, I want peace. I just wish there were an easier way than killing everyone you see and then dividing up the remaining land. How much longer can this whole “Middle East thing” go on you ask? Well it has been going on for about 6000 years so far, I am sure it’s almost over.

Today is May 5, Cinco De Mayo. It is the St Patrick’s Day of the Mexican people in America. Which means this is the day you eat really good food, un like St Pat’s day, and drink until you can not stand up.

I grew up in the southwest and this day was always a big celebration. Parties, food, drink and live girls have been the norm. What has always struck me as odd is that most people have no idea what the hell we are celebrating. Which of course is fine, we don’t really need a reason to get shit faced and fall down drunk. It just better when you can tell your fellow employees it was a holiday you had to drink.

The day in Mexico is more of a religious holiday than a drunken one. This shows just how out of wack Mexicans priorities really are. The history behind the day is as boring as all history. It seems the Mexicans had gotten themselves into a little debt. I know big surprise! They owed money to everyone and my brother. I still think they owe Phill something, what do you think Phil? The Mexican government had made a deal with the British and the Spanish. Who then recalled their invasion forces. But the French had bigger plans, their leader at the time was very short and wanted to prove himself. On May 5th the French landed a force to conquer Mexico. Really who cares about how much money is owed when you can have the whole country. Our friend Napoleon III had some grand idea of appointing a family member to over see Mexico. I think we can all see the error of his ways, you are not supposed to work with family. Things always get fucked up. This time out the French did kick some Mexican ass, but maybe Napoleon should have learned the same lesson America learned years earlier. You can not march onto land that is already inhabited and expect to rule. Wait, maybe we didn’t learn that lesson, where are all the Indians?

So to clarify, May 5th not Mexican independence from Spain, that was 1809 in September. It was the day the Mexicans got wupped by the French only some years later to get bailed out by the Americans.

Over the last couple of weeks the Chinese and the Japanese have been yelling at each other over the Great War. Yes, people are still pissed about something that happened 50 some years ago. It’s like my parents not being able to forgive me for something that happen 20 years ago. Get over it; I just burned up the car and killed the dog?

Now, I know about some of the shit the Japanese’s (Jap’s as my grandfather call’s them) did to the Chinese or Chinks (as one of my close friends calls them). Lets face it though, the Jap’s had started invading islands and countries. They needed natural resources. They hate the Chinese, so the end result is, invade the country take what you want and kill the rest? WAR!

Well it seems the Jap’s never apologized for waging war on the Chinese. They had mixed words and danced around the issue but had never said, “Sorry”.

Last week some young Chinese ramble raisers were outside the Jap Embassy in Shanghai throwing rocks. It seems not only did they not apologize but some new Jap history books tell a different story about the war. Seems the Jap books say the occupation and mass killing, was not as bad as it seemed. Guess that kind of thing can really piss someone off?

Today, in a grand gesture, the Jap’s will apologize to the Chinese. I think it will go something like this, “hey sorry about all the killing 50 years ago, it won’t happen again (wink) as long as you have a million man army protecting your red ass.” Given the chance, I think those Jap’s are still a little angry with the whole “we lost” the war idea. The Japanese are an honorable people who have been completely bitched out by the western world. I think the need some redemption.

Sure they say they are sorry. Sure they mean it. Sure given the chance they would never mount a “Sony sponsored” army and kick those Chink’s into the next century? Let us not forget they have the nuke and know how to use it. The only reason they rolled over is to keep the flow of cheep Chinese labor and hookers coming their way. Be warned your days are numbered, pinko’s!

Sorry about that…
